It's said the shores of Van Deventer Island have been a rendezvous point for Potomac Pirates! In fact, the marked spot the last counsel did gather is supposedly not far from this spot!

If you dare come to this island on which pirates have tread, do be careful. Yes, there is treasure to be found, but the first pirates to explore these shores did report signs of a hempen jig having been danced here. Was a pirate trying to steal a treasure? Or did he stumble into a trap trying to hide one? Alas, dead men tell no tales…
