The cache is situated about halfway along a pleasant walk between East Bergholt and Stratford St. Mary, and can be done en route from one to the other or as part of a circular walk from either village. The cache site is on a crossroads which can lead you downhill into the beautiful Dedham Vale, or the path between the villages provides gorgeous views towards Dedham.
The cache is a small box large enough to hold small items, and is hidden inside a camo bag in some nearby shrubbery...it is positioned on the north side of where the four paths meet in a crossroads. Please replace carefully!
Parking in East Bergholt is easily available in the village centre, clarly signposted upon entering the village centre. More car parking can be found at nearby St. Mary's Church, and both car parks are free for all. In Stratford St. Mary, car parking is available in the high street, a slightly longer walk from the cache than when coming from the East Bergholt direction. It is also possible, if you are a keen walker, to park in Dedham and visit this cache as part of a circular walk in the East Bergholt direction -this is a lovely walk by the river Stour.
East Bergholt is a charming village made famous by the artist John Constable. I hope you enjoy looking round the quaint village centre and nearby Flatford. The views across Dedham vale from the footpaths near the cache site are strongly reminiscent of Constable's work.
The footpath can get very muddy, especially in winter. Not recommended for those with unsuitable footwear, buggies and so forth! During Spring and Summer months the surrounding fields are often filled with lambs and sheep, which is great fun for children!
Congratulations to Lennyemmy and PuReWaRRioR69 for being FTF!!!
