This microcache is a tricky but cunning hide...it blends in well with its surroundings! This countryside walk is beautiful at all times of year, but particularly in the autumn when the sloes and blackberries are about at the sides of the footpaths. This cache is in the heart of Dedham Vale, "Constable Country", and can be combined easily with other nearby caches as part of a circular walk from East Bergholt, Flatford or Dedham.
The cache is in a camoflaged container easily accessible from the footpath at the listed coordinates. A lovely location for a Sunday afternoon walk, which can be a prime time for muggles in this area. They can approach fairly unseen, so be careful when replacing the cache! The cache itself is not heavily concealed, but don't let that fool you - this is still a tricky find which will reveal itself to you if you put in the effort!
The cache is on a footpath easily accessible from Flatford or East Bergholt and rests comfortably in the Dedham Vale in the heart of Constable Country.
Parking in East Bergholt is available in the village centre, and is clearly signposted upon entering the area. Further car parking is available outside the nearby church. Both car parks are free, although can occasionally be busy at peak times. The cache is also accessible from nearby Flatford. Car parking is available near the Flatford Mill National Trust property, but there is a charge for parking, even for National Trust members.
East Bergholt is a charming village made famous by the artist John Constable, and the quaint village centre is well worth a visit. In addition, fans of Constable's work will recognise many the locations made famous by his paintings around the Flatford mill centre. The footpath past the cache is one of our favourites and can easily be incorporated into a circular route from Flatford or East Bergholt. The path can get muddy, particularly in the winter, but is easily accessible at all times of year. It's great for those with a dog although is inaccessible to buggies and wheelchairs.
Congratulations to Lennyemmy and PuReWaRRioR69 for being FTF!!!
