The cache is at the beautifully restored Railroad Depot with wonderful displays of the history of Sedalia, Missouri. It also serves as the Trailhead to the Katy Trail State Park. This is an easy P&G. A Path Tag is waiting foe the FTF
Following history in our travels throughout the United States and Geocaching is a perfect marriage of two hobbies. Also our family history is strongly grounded in railroad history. A trip to this location was a ‘must see’ on our driving tour of Sedalia. This is a beautifully restored Railroad Depot with wonderful displays of the history of Sedalia, Missouri.
The sculpture in front is particularly interesting as it was designed by Christine Schilling--- with the help of Sedalia school children. A Rag Tag Train was created that takes a ride through Sedalia’s past. Sheets of steel were turned into a 35-foot kinetic, hands-on treasure hunt that reminds us of the changes brought to Sedalia by the arrival and departure of the railroad. The artist wondered as she worked, “What winds of change blew in on the rail, and then wafted away with the steam?´ She hopes the sculpture is a visual answer to that question.
Please be very careful of Muggles and replace exactly as found.
Permission for placing this cache was generously granted by Deborah Biermann, Executive Director, Sedalia Katy Depot Foundation. Please go in the Museum and thank her for letting us place this cache.
