Until 1979 this road was the only route connecting Campbell River to Port Hardy on the northern end of Vancouver Island. It is still considered a short cut while travelling to the north island from Gold River.
The cache is placed about half way along the road between Woss and Gold River. The road is well marked with directions to “Hwy 19/Woss” when travelling north from Gold River, and directions to “Gold River” when travelling south from the turnoff the highway a few km south of Woss.
The cache site is located near an active logging road, so please drive with caution and pull well off to the side of the road when meeting heavy logging equipment. There is plenty of room near the cache site to safely pull off and park your vehicle.
