Il était une Foix... est une série de trois cache et (prochainement...) un multi-bonus qui vous emmènera à travers les rues de Foix, à la rencontre de l'univers médiéval de cette ville.
Cette première cache vous amène au pied de l'abbatiale Saint Volusien :
En 1111, une église romane est "offerte" par un comte de Foix pour abriter les reliques de saint Volusien, 7ème évêque de Tours, mort vers 495 aux portes de Foix alors que les Wisigoths l'exilaient vers l'Espagne. Fondée vers 860, l'abbaye de St-Volusien devint le lieu privilégié de la vie politique et religieuse de Foix. Détruite en 1580, au moment des guerres de religion, une église gothique est édifiée au 17ème siècle sur les vestiges de la première église romane (crypte, portail roman côté sud). En 1789, à la Révolution française, les moines quittent l'abbaye. Les bâtiments de l'abbaye abritent actuellement la préfecture de l'Ariège. Entamés en 1963, les travaux de restauration ont donné à l'édifice une sobre beauté originelle. Quelques église romane du secteur étaient, en fait, des prieurés dépendant de l'abbaye.>

This first hidding place is at the foot of the abbey church Holy-Volusien :
In 1111, a Romanic church is "offered" by a count of Foix to shelter saint Volusien's relics, 7th bishop of Tours, died towards 495 near Foix while the Visigoths exiled him towards Spain. Based(established) towards 860, the abbey of St-Volusien became the privileged place of the political and religious life of Foix. Destroyed in 1580, at the time of the religious wars, a Gothic church is built in 17th century on the vestiges of the first Romanic church (crypt, Romanic portal south side). In 1789, in the French Revolution, the monks leave the abbey. The buildings of the abbey shelter at present the prefecture of the Ariège. Begun in 1963, the works of restoration gave to the building sober one original beauty. About Romanic churches of the sector were, in fact, priories depending on the abbey.
