Geocache Description:

On the road from Wangdue to Trongsa, the Chendebji Chorten on your right hand side can´t be overlooked.

It´s a big white stupa in the Nepalese style, similar to the one in Bodnath/Kathmandu, with the Buddha´s eyes looking into the four directions, which are in this case SE, SW, NW and NE. The stupa has been erected in the 18th century by a Tibetan Lama named Shida to nail a demon to the ground that was terrorizing the countryside.

On its left or SE side a new Chorten in the Bhutanese style was build in 1982 by the grandmother of the present 5th King.

Great parts of the movie "Travellers and Magicians", a bhutanese-austrian co-production of 2003, have been shot in the area surrounding Chendebji Chorten. The film was written and directed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche  - the title "Rinpoche" indicates that he is believed to be the reincarnation of an important Lama - entirely in the national language Dzongkha, reflecting the culture of Bhutan.

When you make your round of the stupa in the clockwise direction, you end up facing the NE end of the long Mani Wall. Go along with the wall on your right hand side and look for the gap at head-level seen in the spoiler picture.

The last replacement thanks to GeoMisty and gigawelt is a face mask sealable bag with a piece of paper. If missing, a new replacement will be appreciated! Thank you.

***Be careful, for people may come from behind unnoticed!***
