Geocache Description:

When I was small, I was told that the moon was made of cheese !

( that was before Neil Armstrong landed on the moon )

Maybe this rock fell from the moon and landed on Earth ?

Modderfontein Nature Reserve is a gem of a place in the middle of Johannesburg / Ekurhuleni.  Entrance is free if you are going on to the wedding venue or R30 per adult if you are just hiking or picnicing.  The park is well fenced off and well guarded by security guards. Once you are inside it feels like you are in the middle of an Australian version of the Kruger Park.  The peace is regularly, but thankfully very  inoffensively interupted by a Gautrain whizzing by   in a nearby cutting.  For more info please also read the info given with the GC  "Dynamite 2".   There are several dams  and one of the hiking trails takes you to a bird hide.  We saw many birds whilst we were there. The GC is alongside a marked hiking trail and is on what I think is a bit of a geological anomaly.

The Nature Reserve is well worth a day's visit for a picnic, some hiking, some birdwatching and the thrill of seeing the Gautrain whizz over a nearby via-duct.  

The area is also amazingly free of litter !   ( Yes and it is in SA ! )
The GC is hidden in a small hole in the top of a rock that forms part of a small rock outcrop.  The GC is about 1 m higher than the trail.   The container is an orange plastic container ( 100 mm x 28 mm diameter ).  The CC is about 200 m along a marked trail from where it crosses the tarred road leading to the venue.  This is about 3 kms from the main entrance and about 2 kms from the security guards gate and about 500 m from the venue.

The GC is child friendly and could even be accessible to someone in a motorized wheel chair
