McBride, the first B.C. community on the Yellowhead Highway, has a history tied to railroads and forestry.
If you are traveling west it is a 2 hr drive to Prince George, and along the way you will pass many unique railway trestles and marked old growth forests. This can be a very lonely road in the winter and can seem like a lot longer drive than 200km.
If you are traveling east, it’s a 45m min drive to the Hwy 16/ Hwy 5 intersection, an additional 10 minutes east to Mt Robson (highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 12,972’ (3,954 m )- WELL WORTH THE TRIP- and further on to Jasper, Alberta is an additional 45 minutes. If you are heading southeast at the Hwy 16/5 interchange it’s an additional 10 more minutes to Valemount –another Snowmobiling destination and then on to Kamloops.
You are looking for a magnetic mini geocache. Happy hunting!~!
UPDATE: 15Aug2019 Since the host of this cache keeps getting moved, we have opted to move the cache. It’s is now located on the backside of the “Welcome to McBride” sign. Please be careful not to drop it!!!
