The Western Maryland Tonoloway Railroad bridge was the eastern end of the section of double track at Hancock.
On the Hancock side of the Bridge were two Signals, one Eastbound and one Westbound Signal.
This was the former East End of the passing siding at Hancock. The East bound signal base was at MP B114.5. Signal 114.4 was viewed by all westbound trains approaching the stretch of double track located here at Hancock.
These signals governed traffic through East End of Hancock. B 114.5
This cache is one of a series hidden along the Western Maryland Rail Trail.
If you are an avid hiker, the round trip is about forty four miles.
It is more manageable on bike or roller blades.
Parking is plentiful nearby at the C&O Canal Visitor center in the Bowell’s House, not far from the WMRT access point.
There are, however, a number of access points to the WMRT/C&O Canal along its 22-mile length. A WMRT park and local maps will show these access roads.
The small cache you seek is hidden nearby the trail and easily accessed.
Stealth will depend on day and time of the hunt. Hiker, Biker and Walkers can come from both directions, Please protect the hide !!
Congratulations to wizardofmd69 for the FTF !!!!
