Geocache Description:

Hey Now!

This cache is part of series on or near US Route 30 starting in Pittsburgh that highlights the music of the Grateful Dead.

Cache:

Camo Matchstick Container

Initial Contents:

Log only. Please do not leave trade items, as this is designed to be a fast park, grab, sign, and get going sort of hide.

BYOP!

(With apologies to the band...)

Once upon a time there was a two-stage hide
A missing stage caused the owner to divide:
Two Encore Caches where there once was one
'Cuz the owner figured both would be twice as fun!

I loved the concept of the orginal "Monkey and the Engineer", but it was difficult to keep the pieces in place. I know the frustration of a broken multi.  I wanted to retain the concepts of the hide, which fit the song better than most of the GD30 series, but needed to make the hide more findable.  Thus was born the "Encore": One Monkey, one Engineer. I archived the old hide, and made two. Fresh logs, very similar places. Enjoy!

Oh, by the way, "Monkey" is bit harder in terrain than the original.  Bring something to retrieve it, and put it back where you found it.

The Grateful Dead were a band best experienced live, and almost every live performance has been taped with the tacit permission of the band, and are available free of charge from tape or mp3. This series of caches are much like the music: sometimes simple, sometimes complex, but always satisfying! Most (but not all) of these are designed to be easy, fun finds, so load up the GPSr and the mp3 player of your choice, enjoy the hides, the drive, and the tunes of a Dead Set!
