Geocache Description:

The birth place of Minamoto Yoritomo is located in Atsuta-Ward, Nagoya-City.

In the late Heian period(794-1192), there was a villa owned by the Fujiwara family who served as the head priest of the Atsuta Shrine.
It is believed that a daughter of Fujiwara Suenori, Yura-gozen was married to Minamoto Yoshitomo(1123-60) and gave birth to Minamoto Yoritomo here in 1147.

「源頼朝生誕地」は、名古屋市熱田区にあります。

ここは平安時代末期、熱田大宮司藤原氏の別邸があったところで、藤原季範の娘・由良御前は、源義朝の正室となり、身ごもって久安三年（1147）熱田の実家に帰り、この別邸で頼朝を生んだといわれています。
