Die Nazca-Linien sind riesige Scharrbilder (Geoglyphen) in der Wüste bei Nazca und Palpa in Peru. Benannt sind die Linien, die Wüste und die Kultur nach der unweit der Ebene liegenden Stadt Nazca. Die Nazca-Ebene zeigt auf einer Fläche von 500 km⊃2; schnurgerade, bis zu 20 km lange Linien, Dreiecke und trapezförmige Flächen sowie Figuren mit einer Größe von zehn bis mehreren hundert Metern, z. B. Abbilder von Menschen, Affen, Vögeln und Walen. Oft sind die figurbildenden Linien nur wenige Zentimeter tief. Durch die enorme Größe sind sie nur aus großer Entfernung zu erkennen, zum Beispiel aus Flugzeugen.
The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert in southern Peru. They were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The high, arid plateau stretches more than 80 kilometres (50 mi) between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas about 400 km south of Lima. Although some local geoglyphs resemble Paracas motifs, scholars believe the Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. The hundreds of individual figures range in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, fish, sharks, orcas, llamas, and lizards.
Obrazce na planine Nazca patria medzi tzv. geoglyfy. Na náhornej plošine juhoamerického Peru sa nachádza viac ako 300 obrazcov tvorených svetlými líniami, vzniknutými odstránením tmavšieho vulkanického povrchu. Jednotlivé obrázky sú zreteľné až pri pohľade z lietadla alebo balónu a dodnes nie je jednoznačne preukázané, z akého dôvodu boli vytvorené.
Obrazce veľké až niekoľko desiatok metrov znázorňujú najčastejšie zvieratá, hmyz, ryby a vtáky (napríklad veľmi známy je geoglyf zobrazujúci kolibríka). Nájdeme tu i ľudské postavy, geometrické obrazce, špirály a pomerne často dlhé rovné línie o dĺžke až niekoľko kilometrov.

Eine ahnliche Abbildung, die infolge der menschlichen Anstrengung jedoch auf andere Art und Weise, zu einer anderen Zeit, in einer anderen Lokalitat und ohne Absicht einen Geoglyphen zu bilden, entstanden ist, befindet sich in Niederosterreich. In der Abbildung sind Geoglyphen aus Nazca zu sehen und darunter auch jenes, bei dem der Geocache untergebracht ist. Identifizieren Sie diesen und machen sich auf die Suche nach der Finalstelle auf den ihm zugehörigen Koordinaten. Ob Sie die richtige Abbildung gewahlt haben, kann uber Google Earth nachgepruft werden, da die ganze Bildzeichnung im Terrain ohnehin nicht erblickt werden kann.
One similar geoglyph, that has arisen by a human occasion, but by a different way, in a different time, in a different location and without an intent to create a geoglyph, is located in a Lower Austria. There are geoglyphs from Nazca at the picture and by one of them is the geo cache situated. Identify it and go to the co-ordinates that belong to the final destination. You can check through the Google Earth, if you have chosen the right geoglyphs, because you can`t see the whole geoglyph in the landscape.
Jeden podobný obrazec, ktorý vznikol ľudským pričinením, ale iným spôsobom, v inej dobe, v inej lokalite a bez úmyslu vytvoriť geoglyf, sa nachádza v Dolnom Rakúsku. Na obrázku v listingu sú geoglyfy z Nazca a medzi nimi aj ten, pri ktorom je uložená keška. Identifikujte ho a vyberte sa na finálne súradnice, ktoré mu prislúchajú. Či ste si vybrali správny obrazec, si môžete pozrieť na Google Earth, pretože v teréne cely obrazec aj tak neuvidíte.
