Trout Air Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Grey Wolf and Wild Rice: Looks like it is time for this one to go, as there have been numerous changes:

1) The former Trout Air/Rice Creek Inn building has been removed, apparently to make way for an addition to the nearby race track.

2) While the "Trout Air" name was not in use when the cache was published, the race track has opened a restaurant with that name and re-opened fishing ponds.

Thanks to all who visited and I hope everyone enjoyed the history.

Geocache Description:

As you stop by this cache location, take a look at the white 'house' to the north. That was once a popular restaurant where you could have your fresh catch cooked after reeling it in from one of the surrounding ponds. Looking at the current GE images, the old trout ponds can still be seen. Please do not explore, as all the land beyond the roadway is private property.

And going even further back, this 'house' was previously the Rice Creek Inn and was at the intersection of 35W and US 10 along the creek. It was moved here when 35W was built in the 60's.

In the 80's, Trout Air was a very popular outdoor music venue. Many large outdoors concerts were held on the property. Iron Maiden even played there.
