When I was little I couldn't wait to see "The Wizard of Oz" on CBS. If my memory is correct, it was always on a Sunday. The movie had me singing, happy and scared all the same time. It continues to be one of my all time favorite movies.
"The Wizard of Oz" was released back in 1939. The movie is based on the 1900 children's novel, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. It begins in black and white and then turns to a color movie. I loved Dorothy and her dog Toto. I think that is where my love of dogs began. Dorothy ends up in a tornado in Kansas and lands in a strange village. She is told to go to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard of Oz to help her get home. Along the way she meets three different men. One by one they walk with her to the Emerald City. They have things they want too. The scarecrow has always been my favorite character that she runs into. He wants a brain. The Tin Man wants a heart. The cowardly lion wants courage. Dorothy says "There's no place like home." She is right. The story has a happy ending which I love. This series of caches is dedicated to the movie I fell in love with as a kid.
