This fairly long hike takes you along the orange trail towards the natural setting of our beaver dam pond (the cache is not far from intersection F on the map). This area is rich in wildlife, plants, butterflies and salamanders. Be sure to take a trail map with you! These trails are easy to get turned around on and its a long hike around if you take the wrong direction! After you find the cache you can backtrack a little to take the east fork and keep your eyes open for our small bridge and diversion channel. There are signs here with some information on species at risk and turtles like to lay their eggs in the loose gravel near by. Regular entrance fees apply. Or save money (and get perks) by becoming a member. Automated gates now in use, schedule your visit online is best, but usually someone at the gatehouse on weekends. Outhouses available on site if visitors center is closed. Park closes at dusk!
