Faxe kalkbrud i dag Faxe Kalk A/S

Faxe Kalk har brudt kalk i graven siden 1884 og til at hente kalken op har der været anvendt jernbanedrift. Ligeledes er den færdige kalk via smalsporet industribane transporteret til Fakse Ladeplads havn for udskibning. Denne banestræknings forløb hvor Østbanen kører i dag. Stubberup til Fakse Ladeplads. men rent faktisk var den første bane på denne strækning Faxe kalkbruds smalsporede jernbane fra værk til havn. Sidenhen blev en tredje skinnestreng ilagt og Østbanens normalsporede person og godstrafik kunne befare banen. Dette betød også at Faxe kalkbrud kunne modtage normalsporede vogne og afsende via disse. faxe kalkbruds sporsystem var baseret på en sporvidde 790 mm hvor en normalsporet sporvidde er 1435 mm. Når lokomotiverne trak værkets egne vogne fra fabrik til havne foregik det på de smalle skinner. Anderledes var det når fabrikken skulle modtage normalsporede vogne. Nu foregik kørslen på både de smalle og de brede (normal) skinnerne. Lokomotiverne ved kalkbruddet var kraftige og kunne således sagtens klare kørsel og rangering med de store normalsporede vogne dog kunne sammenkoblingen umiddelbart volde problemer. Dette klaredes med en specialvogn på normalspor som selvsagt havde koblingsarrangement til normalspor men derud over også havde fået monteret kobling til den smalsporede system. nu kunne smalsporslokomotiverne trække de store vogne ud til den nærliggende station Stubberup som var udstyret med spor for udveksling af vogne.
Bemærk sporet i asfalten både under siloerne men også foran på pladsen ved den store trælade nær Stubberup station. Her ses det specielle tre strengede spor for den to sporvidder 790 mm og 1435 mm. Desværre fandt jeg ikke tilbageværende sporskifter med begge sporvidder men disse relative komplekse skifter var særdeles interessante.

Faxe Kalk tegnede sig for nogle de største damp og senere diesellokomotiver i Danmark. dampen ophørte først i 70'eren og motordriften 1982.

Faxe limestone quarry today Faxe Kalk A / S

Faxe Kalk has broken limestone in the grave since 1884 and to retrieve chalk up has been used rail operations. Likewise, the finished lime via narrow gauge industrial railway transported to Fakse Ladeplads port of disembarkation. This track drawing course where the railway named Østbanen running today. Stubberup to Fakse Ladeplads. But actually the first track on this stretch was Faxe Kalkbruds narrow-gauge railway from factory to port. Later, a third rail string loaded and Østbanens normal tracked person and freight traffic could operate over the track. This also meant that Faxe limestone quarry could receive normal gauge wagons and send via these. Faxe Kalkbruds track system was based on a track width 790 mm where a normal track gauge is 1435 mm. When locomotives pulled the plant's own vehicles from factory to port it went on the narrow rails. It was otherwise when the factory would receive normal tracked vehicles. Now was run on both the narrow and broad (normal) rails. The locomotives of the quarry was strong and could easily cope with driving and ranking with the major standard gauge wagons, however, could interconnection immediately cause problems. This was clarified by a special vehicle in the normal track which obviously had coupling arrangement to normal track but in addition also had mounted coupling to the narrow gauge system. Now could narrow gauge locomotives pulling large wagons out to the nearby station Stubberup which was equipped with tracks for movement of vehicles.
Note tracks in the asphalt both under the silos but also in front of the square at the large wooden barn near Stubberup station. Here is the special three-stranded track for the two gages 790 mm and 1435 mm. Unfortunately, I found no remaining switches with both gauges but these relatively complex change was particularly interesting.

Faxe Kalk accounted for by far some of the largest narrow gauge steam and later diesel locomotives in Denmark. The steam only ended in 70'eren and engine operation the 1982th
