Geocache Description:

This is a very quick two stage multi to show you some interesting features of Ethelfleda more commonly known as the Runcorn Railway Bridge. The two stages are very close together. The first one is virtiual and the second is a magnetic nano.

Stage 1 - (Published Coordinates)  Ethelfleda's Lampost.

If you look at The Bridge from here you will see something strange. A lamppost that appears to be halfway up the bridge.  Well the reason why it was here was that this was the walkway up to the pedestrian crossing of ethelfleda. The walkway was closed off in the 1960s when the Jubilee Bridge was constructed. Its still there but now used only by maintennance workers (and urban explorers).  All you need to find here is a ladder stuck on the side of the bridge that is obviously a remnant of an older time. It doesn't reach the floor. How many rungs or on the ladder? Call this A.

Final Stage - A Triangle Under A Curve.

Use some stealth, this area is usually fairly quiet during the mornings and afternoon so that might be the best time to seek the cache. There is something rather unusual here but I will let you discover it for yourself!

Call the lamp post arch Arch 1 , the interesting feature is at Arch A-5, the cache is directly opposite Arch A-4. The clue should be enough for you to get it. If you don't want to use the clue try this formula. N 53. 20.(A x 47 + 8) W 2 44.(A * 35 + 6)

Which way do you walk? Well the thing to remember is that if you find yourself submerged in the Manchester Ship Canal then you have walked the wrong way!
