Llwynog Arian Stone Circle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

NickandAliandEliza: Just found out that the landowners (family of friends) have possibly moved. In addition the cache has obviously gone, so the only option is to archive.

Geocache Description:

A cache hidden close to a prominent stone circle (with one or two different names!) along the Pembrokeshire Coastal footpath. It overlooks a small bay.

The locals have many stories about the origins of Llwynog Arian Stone Circle. It's not a typical circle of it's type, having only 11 stones instead of 12. Apparently the 12th stone stands on the headland just to the West, having been hurled there by the legendary Welsh giant - Owain of Trefin.

From the parking area walk West along the road until you reach the gate on the right. Walk through the gate and follow the path.

As with most of the fields along the Pembrokeshire Coast, this one may have livestock in - so dogs should be kept under strict control. In addition, although the cliffs are fenced in the immediate vicinity, it might be a good idea to keep a watch on pets, children and stupid adults.

You are looking for a double sided lock-top plastic box. The original contents include two travel bugs, 5 path tags (please only take one), two Alaska Oakcoin badges and a pack of playing cards.

The cache was hidden with the kind permission of the owners of the field who live in the adjacent farm house. In the early 70's the building was used in the filming of an episode of Shirleys World (The Islanders) starring Shirley Maclaine. When trying to track down a copy of the episode, the owner of the cottage contacted Shirley's agent. Probably due to the fact that the episode was set in Scotland - they denied ever having been to Wales........
