Doline am Konfluenzpunkt


Ein Konfluenzpunkt im Sinne des Degree Confluence Projects (www.confluence.org) ist der Schnittpunkt eines ganzzahligen Längengrades mit einem ganzzahligen Breitengrad. Das Ziel dieses Projektes  ist es, dass jeder Konfluenzpunkt besucht und fotografiert wird. Weltweit gesehen gibt es rund 48.000 Konfluenzpunkte, wovon sich etwa 12.000 an Land befinden. Ähnlich wie beim Geocaching, geht es darum, die Koordinaten der Kreuzungspunkte im Koordinatengitter mit dem GPS-Empfänger zu finden, also Längen-und Breitengrad ohne Nachkommastellen.

Der Geocache liegt am Rande eines Feldes in einer Doline (Senkloch), wie sie durch Lösung und Ausspülung des
Oberflächengesteins in Karstgebieten als elliptisch geformte Senke entsteht, hier in Form einer Schüsseldoline. Damit befindet er sich nicht nur wenige Meter neben dem Konfluenzpunkt, sondern gleichzeitig auch an einer geomorphologisch interessanten Stelle, auf die mit diesem Cache hingewiesen werden soll.

Mit dem Auto kann man bequem bis ans Ende des kleinen Ortes Belavici fahren. Von dort führt ein Wirtschaftsweg direkt an der Doline vorbei, so daß man mühelos in wenigen Minuten den Zugang auf der Westseite der Doline erreichen kann. Übrigens, der italienische klingende Dorfname Belavici stammt offensichtlich aus der Zeit nach dem ersten Weltkrieg, als die Italiener hier die Machthaber waren. Die Italiener verboten die kroatische Sprache und viele kroatische Ortsnamen wurden damals in italienische verwandelt.

Doline at the confluence point


A confluence point in the sense of the Degree Confluence Projects (www.confluence.org) is the intersection of an integer longitude with an integer latitude. The aim of this project is to visit and photograph each confluence. Worldwide, there are approximately 48,000 confluence points, about 12,000 of which are on land. Similar to Geocaching, it's about to find the coordinates of such intersection points with the GPS receiver, ie longitude and latitude without decimal places.

The geocache is located at the edge of a field in a sinkhole (doline) created by dissolution and rinsing of carbonate surface rocks as an elliptically shaped valley, here in the form of a bowl doline. It is just a few meters from the confluence point, but  at the same time at a geomorphologically interesting place worth seeing.

By car you can easily drive to the end of the village Belavici. From there, a farm track leads directly to the sinkhole, so that you can reach the entrance on the west side of the sinkhole in a few minutes. Incidentally, the Italian-sounding name of the village Belavici obviously comes from the period after the First World War when the Italians were the Rulers here. They banned the Croatian language and many Croatian place names were transformed in those days.
