A clear tupperware container with log and swag in woods which are possibly haunted by a spectral horse. Listen closely.....are those hoofbeats??
The following was adapted from an article featured in the Monroe Journal:
"Last Wild Horse in Union County Killed by Bad Shot"
So begins a tale from before Union County was a county. About 1827, there was a white stallion of medium size and a thick mane. His favorite roaming territory stretched from Monroe to Indian Trail and from Wesley Chapel to Unionville. The men of the county decided to capture him and turn him into a riding horse.
About 20 of them, on their horses, set up a relay of sorts to catch the stallion. Only he outran them all day and into the night. They tried to graze him with a bullett to slow him down, but they accidently killed him.
Years after, the horse was occasionally seen in what was said to have been his favorite grove of pines near what is today's Monroe Airport.
