Radar Hill is the highest point on Wainui Road and is found midway between Wainui Bay and Tauranga Bay. It so named because it was the site of a Royal New Zealand Air Force radar station, established in 1942 to monitor air and coastal traffic as part of New Zealand's defense efforts during World War 2.
Radar Hill Is worth a stop to take in the beautiful view! There is a big enough verge to park. It shouldn't take that long to find this easy cache near the side of the road, it is a medium sized plastic container and contains a log book and pencil and some items you can swap.
