Near the cache publication date in 2007 (October 9th to be precise) The Zombie and The Dragonfly were married on this beach, witnessed by The Dragonfly's sister and brother-in-law, who renewed their vows of 32 years. As the ceremony was ending, just before sunset, we were all expecting a rather bland sunset. The afternoon thus far had given no indication of anything else. The preceding days' sunsets had all been rather unremarkable by Hawai'ian standards.
Then just as we were all about to pack it up, it was as if someone had their hand on the "Spectacular Sunset" rheostat. Minute by minute the sky's color deepened until the entire sky was on fire, ablaze with color we rarely, if ever, see on the mainland. It was as if Pele was painting the sky with a palette of colors made up of a volcanic eruption. The cache container is lined with photos of our special day so that you will have some idea of the sunset which graced the end of our day at Po'olenalena. We hope it brings a smile to your face.
