This cache is placed in memory of my beloved Shepherd and caching buddy Cyrus. Over the years we have spent many wonderful days exploring this area.
The cache is located in the King's Hill area of Bakersfield. Take King's Hill Road from Bakersfield Village. If you have a vehicle that you are comfortable traveling on rough roads with, feel free to continue on to the closer parking coordinates. The further parking coordinates will take you to where the plowing ends in the winter. Please take note! It is best to avoid driving this road during Mud Season!
The King’s Hill area was once a village. If you take the time to explore, you will find cellar holes, stone walls and cemeteries. The building marked as the “Tree Farm” was the school house.
Entering this area there are several private hunting camps, posted land and an active logging operation. Please be respectful of the land owner’s rights. This is a popular hunting area in the fall, so make sure you wear blaze orange during hunting season.
