Higher Authority Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Christopher Pike: Unfortunately, this cache page has been archived due to the lack of a timely maintenance resolution, or no response to my previous note. If the owner would like to have it reinstated, please contact me through my profile or email address referencing the GC code and name of the cache within the next 30 days. Please note that un-archiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines and land manager policies currently in effect.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and look forward to seeing more of your caches up and running in the future.

Geocache Description:

Your looking for a large black key holder. Don't park in the back of the building M-F 8am-5pm. Magnetic key holder, huge building, long tan metal structure in front of you. use your geo-sense on this one. Look higher. The smaller tan building to your west with the bars on the windows, yah, that's the sheriff's office. My buddy LT (the sheriff), and his boys, know about the cache and won't give you any troubles as you stretch out on the courthouse wall for the cache.

The Divide County Courthouse opened in 1917, Crosby had been awarded the county seat when the vote to split from Williams county went through in 1910. Word is Crosby won a rigged election by just one vote to get the county seat. You can still find farmers drinking coffee in the cafe's of surrounding towns talking of that vote. The building houses all of the county offices including a very ornate courtroom on the 3rd floor as well as wonderful display of tribute to local veterans on the lower level. If you happen by during business hours go on in and take a look around. It really is a beautiful piece of history still in use!
