While we were camping at Oaks in Charnwood Campsite we went geoacaching and found a cache nearby. We decided then that we would like to hide our own cache and chose this location as it is not far away from our Guide hut so we can service it regularly.
The cache is situated in the Barrow Upon Soar Millenium Park.
The Barrow Millennium Group was set up in June 1998, by the Parish Council, to organise events to celebrate the Millennium. As a result of numerous events being held throughout the year and the publishing of a book and calendar, £12,000 was raised. It was decided that this money should be used to produce a 'lasting memorial' of the Millennium and a giant sundial was erected.
