Geocache Description:

This park celebrates the discovery of gold near Towers Hill by indigenous horse boy Jupiter Mosman and a party of prospectors. The discovery was registered in January 1872 with the Gold Commissioner W.S.E.M. Charters. Charters Towers was in the midst of 140th birthday celebrations when this cache was placed.

Centenary Park is near the junction of the main road north to Greenvale and the road coming from the east (Townsville) with 'downtown' Charters to the south. Toilets, playground, liberty swing, BBQs, picnic tables, walking path, pagoda make this popular and busy area. Local markets in the morning of the fourth Sunday of the month.

The cache is not at the listed coordinates, but look there for the 'Gold Discovery Monument'.
