This cache is one of 3 caches placed along the Southport Plank Rd
The Plank Rd company was originally formed in March of 1948 to construct a thoroughfare from the PA State Line along seeley creek and into elmira, the road was completed later that year and was in use until 1890. The road had 3 toll booths on it, the first was on Pennsylvania Ave near Beecher St, the second being located on The Pine City Road near what was Littles Market, and finally in Webbs Mills near Shappees Bridge (Shappees Bridge was later torn down due to the construction of Rt 328, it is where Webbs Mills Fire Department is now located). The road has been replaced by rt 328, to Pennsylvania avenue, through webbs mills, pine city, then southport to elmira on the lake street bridge. There is also one location on the road that may have been a stop on the underground railroad, I am not sure about it, if you have more information than just an address, send me an email please.
The cache is small so BYOP
Parking is plentiful.
Finally I ask you to be considerate of people in the area and practice CITO please
Please Leave the Cache the way you find it and return all items to plastic bags for protection against the elements.
