This series of river crossing caches is designed to highlight the beautiful rivers of Delta County. Whether they're aglow with color in the fall, frozen over in winter, rushing and bank-full in spring, or calmly flowing through green landscapes in summer, these rivers are always beautiful.
The Ford River is especially scenic. Many locals and visitors have camps or homes along its 108 mile length. Some folks fish it, some folks tube, kayak or canoe it, and many more just enjoy its beauty.
This road is normally very quiet, not a lot of traffic. However, at certain times of year it can be quite busy. The day we placed the cache, numerous hunters were picking up cabbage from a farm to use as deer bait. It's also rather busy during strawberry season because the same farm has a pick-your-own strawberry operation. At those times, you may have to be more discrete.
These caches are quite easy but please don't rush from one smiley to the next. Take time to enjoy the waters and the rural roads that take you from one cache to another. Pictures are appreciated.
