Blu

Blu is a Spix’s Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii) who is taken from his home as a young bird in Brazil and ends up being found and raised by Linda Gunderson, in Moose Lake, Minnesota. Fifteen years after Linda finds him, Blu is a very domesticated, intelligent bird that does not fly and lives with Linda in her book store. When Tulio Monteiro, an Ornithologist from Rio de Janeiro, visits them and informs them that Blu is the last male of his species, and that a female is living in his bird sanctuary, Linda and Blu travel to Rio so that Blu can help to save his species.
