Geocache Description:

You've already been introduced to this area through BugeyBear's informational cache, "Welcome to Acreage Pines Natural Area". Now venture forward and experience this natural area, onto the boardwalk that cuts straight through the heart of it. It is exceptional that you are able to obtain such a view of a wetland without getting your feet wet or having to raise the difficulty of this cache. Take notice of the differences in the foliage on this boardwalk. See the spanish moss hanging from the oaks, along with the sabal palms, both examples of higher, drier ground, yet it is right next to the pond apples that florish in the wet terrain. It is said that Florida does not have a noticable season change, but if you are aware you can watch the grasses bloom pink and white during certain times of the year. Swamp maples turn color; cypress lose their needles. I always enjoy watching the stands turn green again as our season turns. Various wildflowers bloom throughout the times of the year. You can see the water alive now with pink and yellow blooms. Please enjoy our bit of the woods; bring some sandwiches and sit for a spell. Listen to the calls that can be heard from the birds, along with the croaking of the frogs. Relax, view, listen, enjoy, and then... cache on!
