The cache is located at Kurohime-Nojiriko PA of Joshinetsu expressway bound for Joetsu. There is the museum of Naumann elephants at lakeside of Nojiriko. Naumann elephants had inhabited around fifteen thousand years ago, and extinct then. They were smaller than Asia elephants, and had much fat beneath the skin and fur skin for fitting the climate of ice age.
Many fossil remains of them were discovered here and there in Japan. In 1973, fossil remains of Naumann elephants and human-made tools were found together in Nojiriko. It testified that Naumann elephants and human beings had existed together in old days. Please bring your pen. キャッシュは上信越自動車道下り線の黒姫野尻湖PAにあります。野尻湖にはナウンマン象博物館があります。ナウマン象は絶滅した象の一種で約1万5千年前までには生息していたと思われます。肩高は2.5から3メートルで現生のアジアゾウに比べてやや小型で、氷河期の寒冷な気候に適応するため、皮下脂肪が発達し、全身が体毛で覆われていたと考えられています。日本各地で化石が見つかっています1973年の野尻湖の発掘ではナウマンゾウの骨といっしょにナイフ型石器や骨器が見つかり、人類と共存していたことが証明されています。筆記具を持参ください。
