The cache is located on the Island of Espiritu Santo Vanuatu. Although on the south side of the island and away from the original location it is a reminder of the landing site of Pedro Fernández de Quirós in 1606. The owner of the site the cache is located on is aware of the cache. Best done in daylight as gate keeper in place nearby at night.
The cache is located in an area known as Red Corner north of the town of Luganville on the Island of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu. Friends of ours own the site where the cache is located and are aware of the cahce location. There is a small area you can park close to the cache but it is located on a corner that can be a bit busy with folks walking and vehicles passing by so be aware of traffic for stealth and safety.
In 1606 Pedro Fernández de Quirós voyaged around the Banks and Torres Islands as well as encountering native inhabitants of this island in Big Bay in the North. The encouters were not all friendly and the results are available to read in the history books. However, Pedro Fernández de Quirós left his mark and in 2006 a cemmemoration of that landing was held in Big Bay.
Once you have done the cache there is a restaurant and eatery close by where you can grab a drink or food and find a few more references to de Quiros. **Congrats to jonignite for FTF**
