For visitors and locals alike this event is planned as a relaxed welcome to our city for what will be a very busy weekend.

It's Friday lunchtime some come and join Guwapo's Papa (Guwapo himself will be at school) for a chat and share a barbeque before heading over the hill for the main event.
The location is in one of Dunedin's scenic parks - Woodhaugh Gardens. There are public barbeques, tables, toilets, running water so bring a picnic lunch, something to drink, meet some new friends and perhaps renew some old ones visiting as well.

The reserve contains swamp forest, a very rare forest type in the eastern South Island. Please treat it with care.
Kahikatea forest was common on fertile river flats but much was cleared in the early years of European Settlement. The few remaining kahikatea or white pine (Dacrycarpus dacrydioides in the damper site are several centuries old.
On drier ground the dominant trees are ribbonwood (Plagianthus regius), narrow-leaved lacebark (Hoheria angustifolia) and kowhai (Sophora microphylla).
The large red beech (Nothofagus fusca) in the reserve were planted about 1900. Planting is now confined to species that occur naturally in this area.
The location is close to some walkways and reserves including the Ross Creek Reservoir, Pineapple Track, and the Leith Valley Walkways.
As well as the public facilities Papa will also have a portable barbeque and tea and coffee making facilities.
Parking: The best places to park are on Duke or Malvern Streets.
