#32 The Cheese Board-Pickles and Chutney Traditional Cache
UGGY: Time for this series to go and free up some space for new hides. After almost 9 years most of the cheese has been nibbled and the rest has gone mouldy so no longer very appetising. Thanks to all who visited The Cheese Board.

PICKLES AND CHUTNEY can also make a pleasant accompaniment to our cheese board.
Pickled onions are a popular pickled food consisting of onions pickled in a solution of vinegar and salt, often with other preservatives and flavourings.
Mixed pickles are made from a variety of vegetables mixed in the same pickling process.
A virtually limitless number of chutneys can be made from almost any combination of vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices.
Chutneys are usually grouped into either sweet or hot forms; both forms usually contain various spices, including chili, but differ by their main flavours.
In the past, chutneys were ground with a mortar and pestle. Nowadays, electric blenders or food processors can be used as labour saving alternatives to the traditional stone utensils.
