An unusual old refuge high on the fellside. Close to Whitestones for climbing and also to Simpson Ground for foraging and fishing.
The old refuge was revealed during the recent extensive timber extractions. New trees have since been planted and soon you would never find it unless you knew exactly where to look. Sadly the exposure and high winds last year ripped part of the corrogated iron roof off and although it is still structurally sound it will soon fall into disrepair.
Chappel House Woods are a great place to explore and accessible from numerous locations.
