Geocache Description:

Beard Park Bypass - easy Park and Grab, just off the curb.

Though it is called Strachauer Park now, this little park near my family home, in the far southeast corner of Edina, will always be "Beard Park" to us.

As kids, we could easily ride our bicycles to "The Pool".  We rode from our house, through Beard Park, along this short bypass road (parallel to Crosstown Hwy 62), through a narrow path right next to someone's home, then along France Avenue to 66th Street and The Pool.  I'm sure nowadays kids can't take this bypass to the Pool or the mall. We had it good back then!

We'd also walk or ride our bikes to play on the swingset and other playground equipment for hours.  In the winter we'd ice skate every chance, no matter how cold it was.  While hanging out in the Warming House at Beard Park ice skating rink, we'd all sing songs of the 60's and 70's, then, the boys would go play hockey and the girls would stay and flirt with Randy, the ice rink Attendant. ;-)

My brother always took our dog, Danny Boy, to shoot golf balls around Beard Park. Once, Danny Boy swallowed a golfball, and had to have surgery to remove it. Now there is a sign "No Golfing"!

What's your childhood memory about your local park, or your mode of transport getting around town?

Camo film can on a hook.  BYOP and use stealth as this is a residential area.  Dollar coin for FTF.  Please stay and enjoy playing in Beard Park!
