Geocache Description:

2.6L lock'n'Lock

Take a nice stroll around the Hilton Falls Reservoir or go back to the Beaver Pond trail and you can find this cache along the way. Hidden near a very large, very old Sugar Maple tree. If this tree could talk it would have some stories to tell about the changes it has seen come to this area of Hilton Falls. Be careful of the old fence that has grown into the tree. This tree was here back when the conservation area was fenced and farmed and this tree was nearly alone. You can tell because of the wide spread of its branches. It got all the sun it wanted and spread its branches wide! Trees grown in a forest setting grow mostly up up up! to try to get to the light so do not have many branches going out to the sides. Also a hint of the past is the plantation nearby, along the last section of the "Red Oak Trail". This was planted many years ago to reforest the area, and in the years that have now past this old tree now has many companions.

Visitors centre is usually open: 10am - 4pm (or 5pm on weekends). Outhouses available on site if visitors centre is closed. Park closes at dusk!
