Geocache Description:

This is a series to give the casual cacher a chance to a FTF. They will be easy to find. Caches will be placed along a paved route making for a nice family activity. I ask that if you are the FTF one of the cahes in this series that you ARE NOT the FTF in any other of the FTF series. Please respect this rule.

The third cache in the FTF series was placed by my second daughter and due to the Mario Travel Bug we are placing in this cache she wanted to do a brief history of the Hero Plumber.

In 1981, inspired by Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Bluto, Shigeru Miyamoto created Jumpman(Later Mario), Pauline, and Donkey Kong.  Mario's occupation in the Donkey Kong game was a carpenter and it wasn't until he was reborn in the Mario Bros. series that he officially changed his career path to that of Plumber.  Mario's charateristic appearance stemmed from limited graphics, so Red and Blue clothes were picked to contrast with the background and Mario was given a hat to avoid having to draw hair.  

He soon was cast with his brother aptly named Luigi Mario (yes, the family name is Mario).  Later added were characters Peach, Daisy, Wario, and countless other notable names.  Mario has held occupations such as Doctor, Tennis Player, Racecar Driver, Archaeologist, and CEO of a toy-company.  He has been given a number of powerups and abilities throughout his lead role in over 200 games.  The Mario series has sold more games then any other in the history of Video Games, some calling Mario the best video game ever made.
