El monasterio jerónimo de San Miguel de los Reyes, situado en el barrio de Orriols, se levantó en el siglo XVI sobre la antigua abadía mercedaria de Sant Bernat de Rascanya, gracias al mecenazgo del Duque de Calabria, virrey de Valencia.
Vendido tras la desamortización, estuvo a punto de ser derribado, pero el ayuntamiento lo impidió. En 1856 fue destinado a asilo, y desde 1859 a los años 50 del siglo XX sirvió como cárcel, período al que le siguió un largo abandono. Durante los años 80 del siglo XX fue un colegio público, llamado Reina Doña Germana. Entre 1997 y 2000 fueron realizadas las obras de rehabilitación del conjunto para su destino de sede de la Biblioteca Valenciana.

Jeronimo Monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes, located in the neighborhood of Orriols, arose in the sixteenth century on the ancient abbey of Sant Bernat mercedaria of Rascanya, thanks to the patronage of the Duke of Calabria, King of Valencia.
Sold after the confiscation, was about to be demolished, but the council was prevented. In 1856 he was sent to asylum, and from 1859 to the 50s of XX century served as a prison, a period which was followed by a long neglect. During the 80s of XX century was a public school called Queen Germana. Between 1997 and 2000 were carried out rehabilitation works together to their destination to host the Valencia Library.
The monastery's schedule is from 9am to 20pm
