Marion County was named after Brigadier General _______. He is known as one of the fathers of Guerrilla Warfare, earning his nickname of "Swamp Fox".
He also stated in the lineage of The United States Army Rangers. He was an inspiration in The movie "The Patriot" starring Mel Gibson. The character, Benjamin Martin, is a composite of three American Revolutionary Soldiers, our subject type being one of them.
This individual has more places named after him than any other Revolutionary Soldier with the exception of George Washington.
