The waterbuck's territory stretches almost the entire continent of Africa with the exception of the Sahara desert. The waterbuck belongs to a group of animals known as antelope. They are primarily plant based dieters and have permanent horns. The waterbuck is more closely related to the sheep or goat than the North American deer.
Waterbucks do not typically live in or near water like their name would lead you to believe. They live primarily in the tall grasslands throughout the savanna. Females typically live in groups ranging from two to six hundred members. Males are the opposite live separate lives controlling territory.
