Phil Welch Creek Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Atomic Falcon: I hate to archive this one, but I have to. It was hidden in a tree branch overhanging a log that had fallen across the creek. You had to walk halfway across the log (above the creek) to retrieve the container. But now the log is gone, the tree is gone and the cache is gone. Bummer.

Geocache Description:

This cache was hidden as part of the Jesse James Cache Bash 5 event.

This one is hidden near a small creek near Phil Welch Stadium.  Built in 1939, the stadium is home to St. Joe's college (Griffons) and professional (Mustangs) baseball teams.  Previous minor league teams to call Phil Welch Stadium home were the Saints, Blacksnakes and the Cardinals (St. Louis farm team).  Famous ball players to play here include Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays.  Philip James Welch, for whom the stadium is named, was mayor of St. Joseph from 1936 to 1946, and a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1949 to 1953.

This cache does include some tricky terrain, and may not be for everyone.  Please use caution while finding this cache at your own risk.
