We had been planning a day trip to this area and Scar mountain caught our attention, not only because of the name, but because this is where a forest fire lookout tower once stood 
We parked along the road on the north side of the mountain and bushwhacked our way up to the Cascades Crest trail. From there, we spent a little time looking for the trail to the top. What we came up with could barely be recognized as a trail since it was so heavily overgrown. So we threw caution to the wind and headed up the ridge on the N.E. side of the mountain. This was very hard and near the top the ridge became so steep that we literally had to claw our way to the top using any means necessary. Once at the top, we were rewarded with amazing views and the old lookout site which prompted us to thoroughly explore the top of this mountain. We found some old relics and even a couple of rock carvings. If your the adventurous type looking to visit a seldomly visited mountain top, this is the place for you, but be forewarned you could be SCARRED FOR LIFE
