There is another cache not too far from here with a similar name – 'Eagle Crag View' by The Barrowers. The Eagle Crag that is the subject of that cache is the Wainwright summit of Eagle Crag. The subject of this cache is the crag of Eagle Crag, which then lends its name to the whole Wainwright fell. Further up there is another cache – Eagle Crag. That cache is located close to the summit of Eagle Crag the Wainwright summit. Are you following all this? If you are planning on visiting both caches then I would recommend doing this one first in ascent. The route down to this cache can be difficult to locate from above.
This cache is located at the viewpoint mentioned on Eagle Crag 4 in Wainwright’s Central Fells. It is tucked under a boulder. Please see spoilers as I wouldn’t want you to come all this way for a DNF. As ever with me it is a small tat free box, containing just a log book and pen. There is room for small trackables. Please avoid the temptation to write the ubiquitous one liners – you will have spent an hour or two getting to this cache, so spend another minute or two on your log entry.
The cache is placed with the permission of the National Trust in Borrowdale.
