This cache has been archived.

Rob&Randi: Several intrepid geocachers have reported an encounter with the neighbor whose land is adjacent to the public property where the cache is located. Rather than risk any further such incidents we have decided to remove and archive the cache. Thanks to all those folks who came to read about a little of the local history and enjoy the great outdoors. More caches to Come!

Geocache Description:

This cache is an easily accessible drive-up location, safely removed from the busy state road. Parking is not an issue but parents should be mindful of potential hazards of passing cars. No need to enter the woods or adjoining private property as the cache is relatively close to the historic sign. BYOP.

This geocache is located near one of the Virginia Civil War Trail signs. The marker tells of how Union Gen. George G. Meade ordered a trap set here to catch or kill raider Maj. John Singleton Mosby. This is a typical story of many such skirmishes that occurred throughout the war in this part of Virginia. It further relates a chapter in the life of Confederate Gen. Richard S. Ewell, a key figure in the fate of the Confederacy. Visit this location to learn more about both subjects.
