There was only one cache on the section of the I-275 Bike Trail between Hines Drive and Five Mile Road. This is one of a set of four that gets started on working back towards Five Mile. As with the other sections, I am naming them after bicycle manufacturers. This cache is named after Pierce-Arrow. Heinz, Pierce and Munschauer was formed in 1865 manufacturing household items. In 1872 the company changed to George N. Pierce Company and began manufacturing bicycles in 1896. Not long after Pierce began manufacturing automobiles starting with a failed attempt at a steam-powered version. In 1903, the Pierce-Arrow car was started.
This is intended to be a Ride & Grab cache. The cache container is a small camo painted bison tube. Please be sure that the container and the attachment are hidden from view. You will need a log extractor. Please bring your own pencil or pen.
I have found that a quick and simple log extraction tool can be made from a small paperclip. Straighten one end out. Grab just a small portion (maybe 1/32 of an inch or 1 millimeter) with a long-nose or needle-nose pliers then bend it at a right angle. I have attached one to the cache you can use. Please leave it for the next person.
