Have you tried geocaching but would like to streamline the process of bulk loading and filtering all those caches on your GPS at once? Or maybe filter out all the caches you're not interested in? Fellow geocachers Nezgar & vbpad will show you the "Geocaching Swiss Army Knife" application to do this and so much more to enhance your Geocaching experience.
Maps are an important tool for geocachers. Open Street Map (OSM) is an editable map of the whole world (built largely from scratch) which is released with an open content license. The map can be freely edited, so next time you notice a map error or missing data, you can fix it yourself for everyone's benefit! Recently, OSM has also become the default mapping service at geocaching.com. Learn how to correct street names, add missing roads, paths and parks using satellite imagery and GPS traces. Lastly, we'll show you how to take this information with you by downloading the free map data to a handheld GPS.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops to follow along.
If you plan to attend, please post a 'will attend' log on this page, and if possible, preregister for the session by calling the Regina Public Library at (306) 777-6120 to give them an idea of attendance numbers.
Special thanks to the RPL for providing the venue for this event, look for it also in the November/December @the Library publication!
