Geocache Description:

A small cache at Lourdes Grotto on the outskirts of Kilkenny.
Please don't park at the mainroad, there is pleanty of parking in the nearby estate or at the plant centre further down the road.

Our Lady of Lourdes is a title for the Virgin Mary. The name comes from ceveral apperences by a "lady" around Lourdes in France. An example is the 14 year old girl, Saint Bernadette Soubirous, whom in 1858 said that a "lady" had spoken to her in the cave of Massabiele while she was gathering fire wood. 17 other similiar appearances was reported in that year. Bernadette Soubirous was later cononized as a Saint.
This grotto is a bit hidden, but a very tranquil place at times, but as the trash laying around indicates, a bit more lively at other times.
