Much Hoole Ramble #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DP13: #1 of this series was always the most difficult and unique cache from the start, so when I had to replace it due to the stile being taken away, I kept it hard but with a different sort of container, to keep up the D/T rating. The latest container was a piece of fake grass, which I found fairly quickly today, despite it attracting quite a few DNF's in its time. I removed it and continued, enjoying the frosty walk.

Geocache Description:

This is the smallest and probably the hardest of the circuit to find.  This cache contains some information to help you find the final in the series.  Please do not try to access this as a drive-by, it is a single-vehicle width track and I don't think those who live on it and need access to it would appreciate geocachers holding them up whilst turning around, having to reverse a long distance, etc.  Please bring your own pen and some tweezers.

The circuit is an easy 3 mile walk over fields, along a track, along the river bank and back along the road.  This cache should be accessed by starting on Liverpool Old Road outside the church, taking the footpath opposite to go across the field, then turning right along the track.  For a map and instructions of the route, these can be downloaded from South Ribble Borough Council's website as it is a route they have published and printed copies of to encourage people to walk in the area, just click on Ramble From Much Hoole on the right hand side of the page:   http://www.southribble.gov.uk/Section.asp?sectiontype=listseparate?catid=300948&docid=2262

Congratulations to Avos72 on your FTF out in the cold and the dark of night! Finding within 31 minutes of the cache being published is quite an achievement. It made an interesting night waiting for the next e-mail to come through saying you were FTF of the next and the next… we could visualise you walking, no, running (you must have been to get them so quickly) around the route. Well done and we’re glad you enjoyed it!
